The Best Way To Learn

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

As an athlete, I would spend countless hours every day practicing in order to perfect my craft. Between hitting 500 balls into the net, taking 200 ground balls, playing catch, and doing other drills I would often wonder: what is the purpose in this? Then I would remember, PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT. While this may be what everybody says, is it true?I used to workout with a pro scout that always told me how much better he got AFTER he quit playing and began to teach the game to others. I always wondered why he said this, and then one day it clicked. (more…)

Greed: What motivates you?

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

Who doesn’t want to make as much money as they can, drive the nicest cars, live in the biggest homes, or take luxury vacations? I believe that most people would take all of it, me included. Is that greedy? Sure it is.

Every person has something that motivates them, something that drives them to succeed. Without it, people would become complacent and the economy, and people in general, would become stagnant. Wanting more, whether that be a better car or just a nicer job constitutes greed, but greed is not ALWAYS a bad concept. (more…)

Happy Easter!

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

I just wanted to wish everybody a Happy Easter! No matter if you are Christian or not, today is an excellent day to reflect upon everything that you are thankful for. I personally have had time to reflect on my life, and I have had many blessings. Through my baseball, I have met many great people, traveled to many great places, and found the love of my life. I have a great, supporting family that is always there for me. And most of all, I am healthy and able to spend everyday with the people that are most important to me.

So, on this Easter day, I hope everybody has time to tell people in their lives what they mean to them and truly be thankful for everything they have been given!

Growing Tree

Every person, at some point in their life, has a “life-altering” experience. This experience came for me on February 28th of this year when my daughter was born. As I held her for the first time, a million things rushed through my head: am I going to be a good father, how am I going to support her, what do I need to do to be the best father/person possible?

I decided to set out on a self-improvement adventure. I did this for both myself and my family. After reading many blogs, books, and as much material I could find on the internet, I decided to start my own website in order to help both myself and all the other people out there who are going to be in my position soon, are currently in my position, or have been in my position in the past. I feel that the best possible way to learn is by trying to start discussions and putting my views/opinions out there so they can be viewed and critiqued by others. With your help, I feel we all can improve and make not only our lives better, but the lives of people around us better.

So here it is, “Growing Into You.” Please feel free to leave comments or send me an e-mail at tad@growingintoyou.com with article suggestions and guest posts. I hope to hear from all of you soon.
